What to do with the middle strip

Proposal: Remove the central garden bed and replace with concrete so there is one area the same as the rest of the complex. Remove the paths at either side and change them to garden beds.
Advantages: The parking bays either side will be more useful. They are currently very narrow and risk being hit by vehicles squeezing by.
The wider garden beds will allow for planting small trees in line with the rest of the strip further from the sides of the units than the current bottlebrushes.
Effect on Vehicles/Drivers: People will most likely drive up and down the centre (as they do elsewhere) and if necessary pass at either end.  This takes away the illusion that this is a road where pedestrians are expected to keep out of the way on a footpath and should slow them down.  Drivers must give way to pedestrians throughout the complex.
It will also change the turning circles at the top – taking away the tendency to cut the corner at Unit 3.

Please spend some time in this space looking and thinking about the sightlines and the effects on pedestrians riders and motorists.
